Clarity Project ID Finder is a browser extension that detects Microsoft Clarity analytics project IDs on websites you visit. This privacy policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.

Data Collection

This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.

Specifically:

  • No data is sent to any external server. The extension operates entirely within your browser.
  • No browsing history is recorded. Detection results are stored temporarily in your browser's session storage and are automatically cleared when you close the tab or browser.
  • No cookies are set or read.
  • No user accounts or sign-ins are required.
  • No analytics or tracking tools are used within the extension itself.

What the Extension Accesses

The extension inspects the following on the current page locally within your browser:

  1. Page scripts — Inline and external <script> tags are scanned for references to clarity.ms to identify Clarity project IDs.
  2. Network requests — Requests to *.clarity.ms domains are observed (not intercepted or modified) to detect Clarity project IDs from URL patterns.

All processing happens locally. No page content, script content, or network data ever leaves your browser.

Data Storage

  • Detection results (Clarity project IDs and their detection source) are stored in the browser's session storage, scoped to the active tab.
  • This data is automatically deleted when the tab is closed, when you navigate away, or when the browser is closed.
  • No data is persisted to disk or synced across devices.

Third-Party Services

This extension does not communicate with any third-party services, APIs, or servers.
